Sea to Sky Community Services Society (SSCS) is the lead agency selected to develop and operate Foundry Sea to Sky.
Sea to Sky Community Services (SSCS) has been operating in local neighbourhoods for 43 years, delivering more than 40 programs and help thousands of children, youth and adults build their skills, abilities, confidence, self-worth and mental health. Each day they interact with hundreds of community members who benefit from their services: in the last year alone, more than 15% of the Sea to Sky Corridor’s population accessed SSCS services (6,500 of 40,000).
In 2020, Sea to Sky Community Services was selected through a competitive process to join Foundry BC’s provincial network. As the Lead Agency, SSCS has undertaken the responsibility to develop and operate Foundry Sea to Sky – a centre where young people aged 12-24 can access mental health, primary care, substance use intervention, peer support, and social services. Foundry Sea to Sky will also continue to provide the wide range of vital social services and recreation programs that youth previously enjoyed through the Youth Resource Centre and other Youth Services programming.
While SSCS is the Lead Agency operating Foundry Sea to Sky, this is truly a community-based project with support from many local partners, including Vancouver Coastal Health Authority (VCH), Ministry of Children & Family Development (MCFD), District of Squamish (DoS), Divisions of Family Practice Sea to Sky, Options for Sexual Health, Squamish Nation and School District 48. Cross-sector partnerships and collaboration will continue to be key to the Foundry Sea to Sky project as we work towards developing a new model of care for young people in the region. SSCS has received partial capital funding to develop the 6000 square foot centre. Construction is currently underway and the centre is slated to open in FALL 2022.
Thanks to the support of our generous donors, Sea to Sky Community Services has raised $1.45 million towards the $2.2 million campaign goal (as of November 1, 2021). A community giving campaign is underway to raise the remaining funding required to bring the Foundry Sea to Sky to fruition.
Information and contributions to the campaign can be made by donating online from this page or at sscs.ca or mailing a donation to 38024 Fourth Avenue, Box 949, Squamish, BC, V8B 0A7
